![]() In our classes at Village Birth we talk a lot about fears and trusts, and this has definitely been an exercise in leaning in on the things that I trust- my partner, my care team, my body, my baby. As a mother I feel protective, and as a woman who is about to become a mother again I feel scared and vulnerable bringing a child into the world at this moment. The last few days have been very challenging - feeling like I’m going to give birth in an apocalyptic storm and there’s literally nothing I can do about it. My planned hibernation has now turned into social isolation, and I’m feeling extra sensitive to the hysteria and uncertainty that has come with Covid-19. The last couple of weeks I’ve been turning inward, preparing my body, mind, and spirit for the journey into birth and parenthood (again) I’ve worked hard to practice what I preach. As a doula and childbirth educator I teach it, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy for me to do. ![]() I’ve put a lot of thoughtful intention into the pregnancy and upcoming birth (literally any day now!) of baby I’ve careful chosen my care team, worked hard to prepare my colleagues for my maternity leave, had lengthy conversations (both dreamy and logistical) with my partner and toddler about welcoming another human into our family, and done a lot of personal work on something that is difficult for me- letting go. The opportunity to have our own space – to hold space – for all people on their unique journeys into parenthood is something we are thrilled to bring to the community. Over the years we’ve added new educators and expanded our network, our offerings, and our footprint – opening up a space of our own in Eagle Rock. As working doulas with our finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the Los Angeles birth world, we’ve always had a unique and privileged perspective to offer all of our students and clients. ![]() Born as Two Doulas Birth in 2012, we began by creating a childbirth education class with the information, tools, and techniques we found that were helpful for our clients. Village Birth has a long history of supporting new and expecting families throughout Los Angeles.
