![]() Given Spielberg’s extensive experience with both science fiction and war movies, the material is firmly within his wheelhouse, as “Halo” focuses on a 26th century war between humans and an alien threat known as the Covenant. “He godfathered it in terms of reading every script, helping choose showrunners, writers, director, cast, production design, and visual effects every aspect of it, he looked at.” “We treated it as though it was a legacy project of Steven’s,” Frank said. In a new interview with Total Film, Frank revealed that Spielberg was heavily involved in the show, and left his mark on nearly every aspect of the series. Not the case, according to “Halo” executive producer Darryl Frank. Spielberg is credited as an executive producer on the Paramount+ series, and given his busy schedule that included helming “West Side Story” as well as writing and directing the upcoming “The Fabelmans,” it would be easy to assume his title was more of a formality. Usually this is because they are trying to appeal to the widest audience available even if they aren't fans of the original content. They seem to be more worried about how good it looks and coolness factor than actually adhering to an already well executed cool story that they were supposed to be adapting. This isn't always bad and can work but only if you don't go too far. They are trying to go their own way because they are making a live action series instead of a video game. There was no chance to join due to the Covenants, and to deeper extent the Forerunners jealousy and hatred of humans.) The Covenant literally attacked them on sight. The humans couldn't join the covenant even if they wanted too. (I mean seriously, what is with the human in the trailer throwing tentacles at people and saying that Earth should join the Covenant. The people working on it have too many of their own ideas they always thought would have been better in the original story. It just looks to me like this series has a few problems that a lot of adaptations have had in the past: How so? They literally did it with Abe in Hellboy back in 2004. There was an interview with Downes where he said that he would have loved to have voiced the role in the new upcoming series but that was unrealistic. If he doesn't care about the role and only sees it as an acting opportunity then he probably isn't the best person for the role. Why bring back Jen Taylor and not Steve Downes? If the guy playing Master Chief actually cared about the role he would have been fine with only doing the physical acting. Even when they redesign her later she is still a darker blue than the rest of the hologram projections. Not the very light almost white blue that every other AI in the series is. Why redesign Cortana again? They didn't even make her the right color. What is up with them trying to find HALO to stop it? The first game literally started with them finding HALO. Why? Because he was the captain of a ship not a god damned ground soldier. Not because he's black but because he doesn't have Keyes’ iconic hair and "non regulation pipe" that he holds but never actually smokes. If they actually want to show the chiefs face then they aren't making a show they are making fan service. The people working on it probably don't know anything about the Halo series besides a quick half true rundown they got ten years ago from someone who only watched another person play half of one game instead of actually playing it themselves. So basically what everyone in this thread is saying is that the show wants to be trash.
